Fast K9 Security

Sainsbury’s security guards caught someone they suspected of shoplifting, trying to leave the store with a bag full of items. The incident happened on Boxing Day at the supermarket on Lewes Road in Brighton, East Sussex. In the footage, one guard pulls at the man’s backpack strap, triggering alarms. The man struggles with the guards, pushing one away, and shouts, “Get off my bag!” Despite police being called to the scene, they reported that nothing was stolen. This incident reflects a broader issue, as recent data shows that more than half of shoplifting cases in the past year across England and Wales remain unsolved by the police.

During the commotion at Sainsbury’s, a staff member approached to see what was happening, prompting the guards to move the man away from the front doors. The struggle persisted, leading the alleged thief to lose his footing and collide with a wall. Onlookers, including shocked shoppers, observed the incident, with one person recording it on their mobile phone.

One of the guards questioned the man, asking, ‘What have you got in there?’ The man insisted, ‘Nothing.’ Despite the guard’s request to show the contents, the man refused.

A bystander humorously commented, ‘One shopper took the ‘self-service’ concept a bit too far on Boxing Day, caught allegedly trying to snag more than just holiday deals.’
