In light of today’s introduction of the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Bill in Parliament, the SIA is pleased to hear that the Home Secretary has chosen the SIA to assume the role of Martyn’s Law Regulator.
We understand the gravity of the situation and the value of the Martyn’s Law Regulator’s position. We will carry out this crucial task with utmost care and attention to detail.
The assurance by the Home Office that this additional activity would get separate funding is very appreciated. There can be no compromise between our current regulatory function in public protection licensing and regulated private security jobs and the additional obligations.
After Parliament has reviewed and passed the Bill, we will be happy to collaborate with the Home Office to put Martyn’s Law into action.
